"It's not hostile, it's just two teams that want to beat up on each other," manager Grady Little said of the three-game series between the Dodgers and Giants that starts on Friday with a playoff berth at stake.

"For the Giants, it's a chance to beat the Dodgers," Little said. "And we know why we have a reason to play for. You wouldn't want it to end any other way. We know the situation we're in, and the rivalry just adds to it. It should be a lot of fun."

Of course, there is some history. Like Joe Morgan in 1982, when he homered off Terry Forster in the bottom of the eighth inning to keep the Dodgers from catching the Braves and forcing a playoff game. The Giants were also spoilers in 1991, when they won two of their last three games of the season against the Dodgers in San Francisco, as Los Angeles again finished one game behind Atlanta.

"I don't think there will be any more hostility than it usually is," said Jeff Kent, a former Giant. "There always is. I'm not worried about it. I won't let it involve me too much.

"But it's exciting when you're in it until the end. The last three days with playoff potential. You know something is going to happen. You try to control your emotions and not allow outside influences take over."

The Dodgers go into the series 10-6 against the Giants this year and 4-2 in San Francisco. They send rookie Hong-Chih Kuo to the mound on Friday night and will follow with veterans Greg Maddux and Derek Lowe, both pitching on three days' rest.

"This win today [against the Rockies] was huge," said Brett Tomko, another former Giant. "We needed momentum going into San Francisco."

The Dodgers have won their last four and six of their last seven games.

LA: LHP Hong-Chih Kuo (1-5, 4.12 ERA)
Kuo got the nod for this assignment because of his clutch start on Sunday against Arizona, when he allowed one unearned run on four hits over seven innings. Kuo has 65 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings and a 2.59 ERA as a starter.

SF: LHP Noah Lowry (7-10, 4.84 ERA)
Lowry has struggled lately, losing three straight games, including last Saturday's contest against the Brewers at Miller Park, where he gave up six runs over the first two innings. In his previous outing at Colorado, Lowry lasted only 1 1/3 innings, yielding nine runs.

MLB郭泓志明先發戰巨人 尋求本季第二勝

    　最近拿下四連勝佳績的美國職棒大聯盟（MLB）洛杉磯道奇，明天起在客場和舊金山巨人展開三連戰，而台灣左投郭泓志將於台北時間明早十時擔任首場先發，除了尋求個人本季第二勝外，也要鞏固道奇在國聯外卡領先的地位，公共電視也會直播這場賽事。

    　這場比賽也是郭泓志本季第五度先發，前四次先發戰績一勝一敗，有兩次幾乎到手的勝利都飛走，總計前四場先發主投二十四又三分之一局，僅被擊出二十支安打，失八分、七分是自責分，防禦率二點六一，另外還送出二十九次三振，表現比中繼出色許多。

 
    　明天的對手是擁有邦茲的舊金山巨人，郭泓志本季曾對戰過巨人兩場比賽，都以中繼身份上場，吞下一敗；生涯對巨人三場比賽，戰績零勝一敗，三又三分之一局的投球，被擊出三支安打，包括邦茲的一發陽春全壘打，對戰防禦率五點四零。

    　對手巨人近況不佳，最近五戰四敗，全隊打擊火力以二壘手杜爾漢表現最突出，本季九十三分打點、二十六發全壘打都居全隊之冠，打擊率二成九四也排名第二，至於強打邦茲則因小傷勢困擾，連續兩場都未出賽。

    　明天巨人的先發投手，將是本季戰績七勝十敗的羅利，他上一場對道奇先發六又三分之二局，被擊出兩支全壘打失五分退場，但無關勝敗；不過他生涯對付道奇很有心得，總計六場先發拿下兩勝零敗，對戰防禦率也僅有三點零五。
